SPEED YOUR BROWSER BY CHANGING YOUR DNS

Most people use the default DNS settings provided by their ISP, and while they are usually sufficient for most purposes, there are plenty of free options out there, like OpenDNS and Google DNS. Namebench is a free app that checks to see whether your current settings are optimized and, if not, which free option is best for you. Here's how to use it:

Download and install Namebench.

Fire it up and choose your settings. Keep the top two boxes checked. If you're concerned about network censorship, check the third box, and if you want to help the developers, check the last box. You can tweak the rest if you're outside U.S. or want to experiment with different browsers.

NameBench Dns

Click Start Benchmark and wait while Namebench runs its tests. It should take several minutes. A browser tab should pop open when Namebench is done and give you a list of DNS servers and how much faster they are than the one you're currently using, unless yours are already the fastest possible.

Namebench does not change your settings, but it's generally pretty easy to do it yourself. Check with the instructions you got from your ISP to set up your modem and/or router and just substitute the DNS addresses you received from Namebench for the addresses given by your ISP. It's best to do this with your router, as it will assign that DNS address for all the devices attached to it.

That's it! This can dramatically improve your browsing speed, and it's fairly easy to work through.

Has someone else been logging into your Facebook account other than you?

Social media has become an intregal part of our everyday lives.  Facebook is probably the most prevelant these days.  If you stopped 10 people on the street today and asked them about Facebook, more than likely, all 10 would know about Facebook.  Ages from 10 to 80 would probably know about this social media application and 8 would probably have an account with Facebook.
While this application is so popular world wide and it is a great way to keep up with family, friends and businesses, it is also a hideout for others trying to manipulate it and use it for malicious purposes.  It seems with every good thing that is brought about for something good, there are those that want to use it to prey on others.
I would like to show you an easy way to see if others have gained access to your Facebook account unknowingly to you and how to end their activity with your account.  It is important that we stay on top of Facebook security measures.  Facebook security settings are easy to access.
Here is how to check to see if your Facebook has been hacked:
1.  Log into Facebook ( https://www.facebook.com )
2.  Click on the down arrow next to Home in the top right hand corner of your screen
2.  Click on Account Settings
3.  Click on Security on the left hand side of the screen

4.  Click on Active Sessions

5.  It will now show you a listing of sessions that are still active with Locations and Times

6.  If you see something like someone was using your account from another city, state or country or your own city at like 2:00 in the morning when you know you were asleep, simply click on the End Activity button to the right of the entry.

7.  End the Activity on all that you deem necessary.
It would also be a good idea if you change your Facebook at this point to make sure that if the attacker did have access to your account, they will not not be able to access your account with the existing password.
Here is how you change your Facebook password:
1.  Log into your Facebook account
2.  Click on the down arrow to the right of the Home button in the top right hand corner
3.  Click on Account Settings
4.  Click on General
5.  Click on Edit to the right of Password
6.  Type in your existing password, tab down and create a new password, tab down and re-type your new password in the appropriate fields.  Make sure that you use an uppercase, number and special character in your password.  It would be best if you create a password that can not be found in the dictionary.  For example, do not use Password#1 as the word Password is in the dictionary.  You can use the first letter of some saying you like.  For example, All Good Dogs Go To Heaven….would be Agdgth#1.  This would be much harder to crack.
7.  Click Save Changes
Now you have a new password!
Hope this helps someone.
Happy computing!

How to change the size of fonts in Google Chrome…

I have had poor eyes my entire life so this post is of particular importance to me.  I certainly hope that it helps someone out like it has me.  I typically work on a computer for about 10 hours per day between work and home…so any little bit of help that I can get is crucial to me.  One of the things I normally do is increase the size of fonts within my browser.
To top it off, I have a Matrox TripleHead2Go Three-Monitor Graphics Expansion – Digital Edition T2G-D3D-IF, which by the way is an awesome way to connect three monitors to one computer.
By the end of the day, my eyes have some serious eye strain from looking at all these monitors.
Time for a little help  for someone that needs to increase the size of fonts in Google Chrome.
So, let’s get to point of how you change the size of fonts in Google Chrome:
1.  Open Google Chrome
2.  Click on the Wrench in the top right hand corner
Google Chrome Wrench
3.  Click on Settings
Google Chrome settings
4.  Click on Under the Hood on the left hand side of the screen
Google Chrome Under the Hood
5.  Click the down arrow next to font size and choose Very Small, Small, Medium, Large or Very Large to suite your taste
Google Chrome font size
6.  Next, make sure you close out of the Settings Tab at the top of the screen
browser close
7.  Now refresh your browser and you have the new font size
There you have it!  I really hope this helps someone out there.
Happy computing!

UltraDefrag Utility (Open Source)

UltraDefrag is an open source disk defragmenter for Windows NT 4.0 and later operating systems.
It makes use of the same defragmenting API used by many other windows defrag utilities, both open and closed source.
However, UltraDefrag has many features that makes it unique.
Firstly it has a kernel mode driver that does most of the work, secondly is the ability to run the application at boot up time in a manner similar to chkdsk.
This allows for faster defragmentation time and the ability to defragment all files including system files. It can also defrag single file or multiple directory and can generate a list of all fragmented files.
The program is available for both 32bit and 64bit version of Windows running on both AMD and Intel based processor.

Download This Software From Here.

See All Live Webcams (Hidden Also )with a Google Trick

Here’s a trick that will blow your mind. You can get access to all open public webcams through Google. There are many tricks by which one may get accessed to all the webcams running currently at a particular position and at particular time. However the Google Webcam trick seems to be one the easiest. Here are a simple few steps by which one may do the same.

Step 1: Log on google.com

Step 2: Type ‘inurl:/view.shtml’ as a query

Step 3: You may also try using intitle:”Live View / – AXIS” | inurl:view/view.shtml^ as a query.

Step 4: This would redirect you to a page with the home pages of these urls.

Step 5: The above query reveals the IP network webcams that have been indexed by Google. You can easily get access and locate those unprotected IP network cameras used that are released or leaked to the public internet insecure cameras by using Google.
